Mobile app development with JavaScript and React Native

Have you ever wanted to develop a mobile app purely in JavaScript? Fed up with sluggish experience of hybrid apps? With React Native you can now get a native mobile app written fully in JS. The best is yet to come. You write code once for both iPhone and Android. Even on your old Linux laptop!
This will be very hands on workshop and will cover the following topics:
- How to setup a new project in React Native
- Expo - what it is, how it works and its limitations
- When do you need to eject from Expo
- Navigation options available
- Debugging React Native applications
- How to do animations
- App shipping to Google Play and Apple Store
- Code maintenance, updates and upgrades

Michael’s first computer was ZX Spectrum with 16KB memory, although if you call him old, he would most certainly deny!
He is based in CodeBase in Edinburgh where he is building a Full-Stack JavaScript educational platform for people who want improve their AWS skills called Biggles Academy. He also enjoys building projects for other people.
He is a graduate from the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh and a mentor at Code Your Future. An ex-glider pilot who dreams of getting back to the sky one day
Mozafar Haider: @kabaros
Mozafar is a software developer with 10+ years of experience, from Khartoum to the Netherlands, London and finally Scotland.
He currently works for Edinburgh-based startup Kindaba building a private social media platform for families using React Native.
He set up a Scotland branch of Code Your Future.
